Koyuki padded down a rocky path, the white kishu all by her lonesome. It was quiet times like these that got her thinking of her late son the most, the near-noiseless area letting let think about past events, receiving news of her sons death. It had all happened a year ago but it still felt like a freshly dealt wound. How could she ever get over the death of her eldest child? She could never do such a thing. Others may have given up on Sirius but Koyuki would never, not even in his death would she forget about him or push him aside. Just like the rest of her pups Sirius meant the whole to her.
Koyuki stopped in her tracks on the pathway, tears unknowingly welling in her eyes. She wondered if things could have been different had she been there instead of staying back from the battle field.

The old dog had been missing Sirius greatly since his death, but it had been a year, and he had learned to accept the fact his grandson wasn't going to ever come back. Gin noticed Koyuki, his daughter-in-law, and could notice her grieving. " What seems to be the matter, Koyuki?" He asked. " Probably Sirius, I gurantee. I understand your pain, he was my grandson." The Akita sat down, looking at the white-furred female. " Not a lot of my packmates are coping well, especially Rigel, but Rigel and Orion both need you to stay strong so they can too."

Weed crept silently through the undergrowth, his sights set on catching a unsuspecting pheasant. His paws were almost silent against the grass, and he could feel the light breeze blowing in his direction. The conditions were perfect, all that was left was the pounce. Funnily enough, the Akita mix wasn’t actually hungry. He wasn’t hunting for anyone else, either. No, Weed just found...comfort in the silence of the woods. Hunting just gave him something to do while he was alone. The past year had been...difficult, to say the least. Morale was low, even with the victory against Monsoon all those months ago. Not to mention what was going on with his own family. Weed gritted his teeth, growling in frustration as he leapt at the pheasant.
Weed’s paws landed in the open clearing, his head hanging low as the pheasant flew off above him. His body quivered slightly, and his breathing had gotten funny.

Koyuki stood in place, her breath shaky as she breathed in and out. It was then a familiar voice distracted her from her train of thought. With tears crawling down her cheeks she looked in the direction of the voice, spotting Gin. She watched him through glossy brown eyes as he spoke and sat down near her. She would be lying if she said she had noticed right away that she was crying, this always happened when she talked or thought about Sirius, it always ended with her in tears.
She sniffled, shaking her head to rid herself of the tears. “Gin...” She spoke in a weary tone. The white-furred soldier did not harbour the same bitterness or blame for him as she did for Weed. While she felt some blame towards many of the Ohu soldiers for not even so much as trying to understand her son she truly felt that it was Weed who could have done something more about it all.
“I understand, Gin. I try not to cry in front of my children. I can’t imagine they are feeling any better about all Sirius,” she told him honestly. “But sometimes I cannot help but wish there was a way to bring him back. Or perhaps he would still be alive if things had been different. Perhaps if I had been there I could have helped him and supported him when no one else would. It would have been better than the nothing his father gave him,” Koyuki looked at the older dog, her sad expression becoming more stoic, her heart ached as she thought about the different outcomes that could have been. She was clueless to the fact that Weed was Hunting not far off.

Weed shook his head, his teeth gritting so hard, he could almost taste blood. He just couldn’t let himself cry. He wasn’t a puppy anymore; he couldn’t just cry whenever something bad happened, not when he was the boss of an army. The silver brindle looked up, blinking his eyes quickly until the stinging went away. Weed turned away, seeing that the pheasant would’ve been long gone by now. As he walked through the woods, he picked up two familar scents: his darling Koyuki, and his father, Gin. He winced. He’d been aware of Koyuki’s changing feelings...the cold, empty stares...the way she’d shift away from him when he tried to sleep next to her...It’d been that way since Sirius died, and only a dense fool wouldn’t have been able to put two and two together.

Gin felt happy that Koyuki was at least trying. Gin had been through many losses in his life, the death of his father Riki that occured years ago, and now the death of his oldest grandson Sirius. Gin felt bad for his son Weed. It seemed he and Koyuki were having trouble trying to be together again. They made a good couple, in Gin's opinion, but now it had went to nothingness. " I understand." Gin said, looking at Koyuki. " It's very problematic when you lose someone close to you. Blaming others, though, can only make things worse and harder on yourself." The Akita's nose then twitched. He could smell the scent of his son Weed. Gin then looked at Koyuki. " Weed's not too far away." He said. Gin did want Koyuki and her mate to make amends one day, but now it seemed impossible.

The Akita mix let out a slow sigh. Koyuki and Gin were bound to notice that he was nearby, and running away would only make him look like a coward. There was nothing Weed feared more than looking soft or foolish, especially in front of his father. Week took a deep breath, and stepped out into the open, onto the rocky trail. He caught Gin’s eyes first, and nodded politely to the old Akita. He then glanced in Koyuki’s direction, rather than looking directly at her. Weed cleared his throat.
“Erm...Father,” he began softly. “Koyuki...”

Koyuki looked at her paws, breaking her gaze with Gin as she stared thoughtfully at the ground. She contemplated his words, knowing they held some form of truth to them. Blaming Weed would not bring her son back, she knew that all too well, she lived with that painful knowledge every day. But still, how could she ever look at Weed the same way again after hearing what had happened? How could she just accept everything after Weed supposedly tried to banish Sirius in their son's time of need? Koyuki was silent until the older akita mentioned the presence of her mate and she finally looked back up. Brown eyes blinking the kishu breathed out, closing her eyes as though she were preparing herself to deal with the situation. "So he is," she replied calmly, looking in the direction she could scent him in. Her expression remained neutral, remembering back to how much she loved her mate so. He saved her, not just from the bear trap but from the life of being nothing but a breeding dog. Her heart ached at the memories. She wanted to leave the area before Weed managed to approach them, but it seemed to Weed showed himself before she had the chance to do so. She stared at her mate, a sadness in her eyes for only the briefest of moments, before putting on a more stone-like expression. She would no longer show weakness in front of Weed, she didn't want him to see her cry, or long for what she used to feel for him. She missed feeling her heart flutter each time she looked at him, and the soft smile she was able to look at him with. Now it felt like she was looking at a completely different dog.
"Weed," was all she replied back to him with, glancing away to look in Gin's direction. She wondered what he was doing here, patrolling perhaps? Or maybe hunting. She thought back to Gin's words, that blame would only make things worse, and harder on herself even.

“Ahem...” Weed cleared his throat, his paws shuffling awkwardly against the ground. He, too, looked at Gin. “Erm...I was just nearby...hunting. It got away from me. The, er, pheasant, I mean. I was hunting pheasants. Hehehe...heh...” Weed just wished that the ground would open up and swallow him whole. It’d be appropriate, considering how much he was digging himself into a hole due to his babbling. The Akita mix looked up, his eyes darting from the trees to the sky.
“Lovely day, huh?” he said, hoping to clear the air a bit. “Sun’s out...temperature’s good...I thiink I might just spend the afternoon sunning myself. You two could join me...if you’d like, of course.”
