GRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOUUUUUURRRRR!
An adolescent Hokkaido brown bear fell into its back with a thud, its death cry echoing throughout the forest. A German Shepherd stood nearby, staring hard at the fallen bear with her piercing, blue eyes. She panted, her body covered in sweat and blood. She stood in a defensive stance, waiting to see if the bear was, somehow, still alive. Seconds passed, and as the bear's body lied there, its blood pooling underneath it, the Shepherd became certain that the bear was actually dead.
"I did it..." the female, Zarya, whispered to herself, her lips curling back into a smile. She gazed up at the sky, imagining that her father was looking down at her from among the clouds. "Father! I'm getting stronger! I beat on of Hokkaido's strongest animals!" While the bear had been an adolescent and, arguably, had not been at its strongest, Zarya believed her victory was a sign. This land...Hokkaido...would belong to the Russian Army, and her father, Viktor, could finally rest in piece.
Zarya staggered a bit, now feeling pain from her wounds. The bear had gotten her good; long, ugly scratches trailed down her sides and back, and it'd clonked her hard in the nose, causing it to bleed. The female ran her tongue along the top of her mouth, licking some of the blood away.
It's nothing serious, she thought to herself. Just trophies from the fight, that's all. Be strong, Zarya...
Zarya slowly hobbled up to the bear, collapsing against it and resting her forepaw on its fur. With a low snarl, she began tearing into the thick skin, trying to get down to the meat. This was the biggest kill she'd ever seen; only a fool would think of leaving it to rot.

Kyohaku had been exploring before he would go back home. Him and his packmates, the Black Reapers, lived in Hokkaido. As the husky mix was exploring, he saw a bloody female German Shepherd eating a bear she had apparently killed. The smell of a dog Kyohaku recognized lingered on this dog's fur. Viktor. " Hello." The older dog said, looking down at her and the dead bear. " I see you killed that bear. Impressive." Kyohaku then sat down and scratched himself real quick before glancing at the female again. The three scars on Kyohaku's side burned a bit, but he didn't care. He'd had them for a while to where they meant nothing.

Zarya sat up quickly, turning to face the sudden voice. Her hackles rainsed, and she growled gently. Taking notice of the white and brown male, the Shepherd looked him up and down, sizing him up. He was old, but had a firm body. He halso had hints of Shepherd to her, something that caught her interest. And if he lived here in Hokkaidō, perhaps he could’ve proved useful. She couldn’t help but puff out her chest in pride at his compliment. “Thank you,” she said, deciding to be a little polite. “You...live here, right?”

Kyohaku noticed Zarya tense up a bit before calming down, becoming more polite, also happy at Kyohaku's compliment. Something he expected from Viktor's daughter was strength, and Kyohaku saw that apparently in Zarya. " You're welcome." Kyohaku replied, a smile forming on his face. " Indeed I do. I have a pack of quite a few dogs not too far away from here." He then decided to take note of Zarya's appearance. " You remind me a little of this dog called Viktor. He was a great guy." Kyohaku said. In truth, he admired Viktor even though Viktor was younger than Kyohaku.

Zarya perked at her father’s name, her eyes glistening in excitement. Her tail wagged rapidly. “You knew my father!?” she exclaimed, forgetting that she was supposed to be acting professionally. “The other Russian dogs called him a traitor and coward, but I always knew he was a brave and strong male! That’s why I’m going to take Hokkaidō, in his honor!” Zarya paused, trying to calm down. She’d never gain anyone’s respect acting like a pup. “Ahem...I’m going to be recruiting dogs as well to help me secure this land. Your pack would be useful to me. Of course, if you don’t join...” She trailed off, baring her teeth threateningly.

Kyohaku watched as Zarya basically became pretty hyper and happy at the fact Kyohaku knew Viktor. " Indeed I did." He replied, listening as Zarya claimed others called Viktor a coward and all, and that Zarya thought he was brave. Kyohaku listened as Zarya then explained a goal she was trying to achieve before actually growling threateningly at Kyohaku. Well then. Kyohaku thought. Better not make this woman mad or she's gonna kill me.
" I'd be willing to have my pack help you out." Kyohaku offered, his voice cold. " We've been trying to take over some of Japan, maybe most of it."

Zarya let out a breath she hadn’t even realized she’d been holding. In all honesty, she had no desire to kill Kyohaku. He was the only dog aside from her mother who’d ever spoke of Viktor of the man she’d always believed he was. “Good,” said Zarya. “I only had my sets on Hokkaidō but...” She paused, licking her lips deviously. “All of Japan? No one would ever look down on us then. Let’s do it!”
